Lines

Most of us are familiar with the line maker in the editor (the - left of globe with glasses for setting links). When clicked it renders this:

You can shorten it or thicken it by clicking it and dragging the corners or change its color by using the text coloring tool.

It will also shift to one side or the other by using the same "justify" tools that you use for text. by default it is centered

Bored already?  Lets get a little fancier. consider a vertical line.  Make sure you read all of this section before you try this or you will think I am full of an unspeakable substance.

Using the pipe ( | ) to separate links looks amateurish at best.  With a table, you are limited You are stuck with the outer border. Doesn't this look nicer?

What it didn't work for you?...You tried it before you finished reading.  Most browsers see the line as a complete line.  That is when the browser detects the html to draw a line it sees it as a full row of text with a single space below it.
The Workaround:  Tables.  This is what is really above with the border set to "0".

Warnings and limitations:  The editor uses a finite number of pixels to set line width.  A long horizontal line drawn with it will often cause scrollitis and render your page useless to webbies and a pain in the butt to read to others.  Those not familiar with HTML should simply keep their horizontal lines short.  Experienced users can use the HTML editor to set the width of the line as a percentage of the space available.
